Many of us have been in a situation at some point when we were cold and didn’t have on the right clothing to stay warm. It’s an uncomfortable and disorienting feeling that leaves you unable to think about much else, other than how cold you are.
Give a Coat is a Rentabox charity initiative that was born out of the recognition of the above. In the course of our work, we became aware of the fact that our clients used their moves as opportunities to give out their old / unused coats away. Given our involvement in various charitable causes, we recognized this opportunity and decided to encourage our moving clients to let us have these critical items of clothing so we could channel them to various agencies that distribute them to needy children, women and men.
Give a Coat drive is an easy and convenient way to help people in need in your community. Our goal is to provide any person in need with a warm coat, free of charge. We want to help you or your organization create a successful and fun event.
Each coat drive has the same intent -- to collect coats that will be GIVEN to those in need.
Many people play a part in Give a Coat - those who clean their closet to donate coats; those who organize a coat drive in their community; and the volunteers and staff at social service agencies who distribute the coats.

Our dream is that Give a Coat becomes a part of the South African lifestyle. When a coat is no longer needed, people will think of Give a Coat. They will make their donation knowing that children, women and men in need will receive a gift of a warm coat.
When planning your move, please put aside any useable clothes, blankets and coats that you are not using and we shall sort them out and channel them to needy families.
