Why don’t I just find used boxes?
Used moving boxes are a more sustainable solution than buying new. However, cardboard moving boxes absorb lots of dirt, bacteria and other things you really don’t want on your stuff. Each Eco-box moving box is thoroughly cleaned after each use. Our drop off and pick-up service also means you’re not driving all over the city picking up boxes.

How do I pay?
We accept Debit, Visa, MasterCard, or EFT. 

Will I receive a phone call from RENTABOX?
Yes. We will give you a call to confirm details before your delivery.  You will also receive a confirmation email when you place your order. Please don't hesitate to call us if you have any questions.

Can I keep my Eco-boxes longer if I need too?
Yes, please give us a call as soon as you know you may need our Eco-boxes and moving supplies longer. We can typically accommodate extension requests. Additional charges may apply.

Does the delivery fee cover both delivery and pickup?
Yes, the fee covers both pickup and delivery of Eco-boxes and other moving supplies.


What radius does the delivery fee cover?
Our pricing is inclusive of delivery and collection within Gauteng - 40km radius from Wynberg, Sandton. All other areas outside the 40km range will be quoted at a rate of R10 per km over the 40km. Contact us for details.

Is RENTABOX a moving company?
No, moving is up to you. We make it easier on you, your wallet and the environment. Please let us know if you would like help selecting a reputable moving company in the SA.


How many Eco-boxes will I need to pack and move?

Every move is different, but over the time we’ve been in business, we have identified a few patterns. Our high-level recommendations are as follows,

but always remember to get more Eco-boxes than less as most people tend to under-estimate the contents of their homes. You can always call us to discuss your specific requirements and we shall be happy to advise so that you only get the boxes you require – saving you time and money. Also remember that the average house move takes about 2 weeks of actual packing in th eold house and unpacking in the new house. Our model ensures that you don't keep boxes unpacked as they take up space and promote clutter.

What if I need more Eco-boxes after you deliver my order?

Our main goal is to make sure that you have enough Eco-boxes to pack and move efficiently, when we leave your place. If you need more, we do

have to charge an additional delivery fee, as it's a second order. So, it's better to be safe than sorry and have to pay the extra delivery fee to have more Eco-boxes delivered. It's very common to have a few extra Eco-boxes that are not being used while moving.

How quickly can I get eco-boxes delivered to my place?

We can deliver our Eco-boxes to you within 24 - 48 hours.


How does RENTABOX deliver and pickup the boxes?

Our truck and driver will deliver your Eco-boxes and other moving supplies to you. They stack neatly inside of each other and don’t require any assembly. Our driver will deliver the moving boxes and supplies right inside your house.

 

What's the best way to contact the company if I have a change in plans or
a last minute delay in my move?

The best way to reach us is to send us an e-mail and then follow up with a quick voice mail if we don't get back to you within 3 hours. If you need to reschedule the delivery date, please let us know ASAP as we have a lot of folks on the waiting list to get our Eco-boxes.

Is your service really cheaper than buying new or used cardboard boxes?

Yes it is and here's the quick explanation on why our system is cheaper, faster and better for the earth. For starters:

 

·         You need less boxes- you can pack more in our boxes as they are made from recyclable plastics and are very durable. Most people never factor in their research time, time to drive to the store, stand in a checkout line, load the stuff into their car, drive back home, unload, start building boxes and at this point you still haven't packed one item.

·         No impulse decisions. When most people go online to look for boxes they will see new and used cardboard boxes. Based on impulse buying they will purchase the boxes, and by the time they get the stuff delivered - they realize that they need more new or used cardboard boxes! They now have ran out of time and end up either dumpster diving or buying last minute, paying ridiculous prices and when they look at all of the money that they have spent to pack and move, it will be twice as much compared to renting a box.

·         Get the perfect box. Then after you get the boxes built- you're wasting valuable time fussing with that messy tape- no handles and if you don't pack them just right - which takes skill and practice, not too heavy and not too light - they will crush when stacked during transport. So again- way too much mental energy and time to pack a perfect box.

·         Stack perfectly. Then they don't load as fast nor do they stack as high- so the loads are less efficient and not practical when your moving a 1 bedroom to a company move. Then you have to breakdown each box, putting that messy tape to carry them to the dumpster, or load them into your car and drive to a recycle center. Don't you think this is just a huge waste of time? I know that it's not very practical in a world wired for one click shopping and instant messaging. What do you think?

Do I (or one of my friends) have to be at my place to receive my order?

Yes, we do need someone at your place to receive and accept the order. We count the Eco-boxes three times before arriving and delivering them to

your place. We will count them one more time with you, when delivered. After we have counted them with you, we will have you or your friend sign the rental contract for the delivery. The same goes when we pick them up. We will count them on your property with either you or your friend. We will then recount them before we load them on our pick-up truck. If there's any missing Eco-boxes from your order, we allow the time that it takes for us to load your order onto the truck. If you're not able to find the missing Eco-boxes, we will have you sign the missing report contract and then will bill your credit card the next business day. If you get lucky and find the missing Eco-box after we leave, just call us and we'll come back and pick it back up. We will credit back your card, minus the re-pickup fee that can vary due to delivery locations.

Is there a cancellation fee if decide that I don't need the service?

If you place an order and let us know at least 5 days in advance, we only charge the credit card processing fees to credit back to your account.

This is usually about 2.5% of the pre taxed sales amount. So if your order is R200.00 we would charge back to you R5.00 to cancel your order. Three days before costs R99.00 and the day before or same day cancellation is half the cost of the order. We have this fee due to all of the internal labor costs and logistical costs that we spend to prep and load your order for delivery.

Do I (or a friend) have to be home when you pickup the Eco-boxes?

Yes, we do need someone to be home when we pickup the Eco-boxes. The main reason is that if you leave them outside for us to pick them up

and someone decides to borrow a few of our Eco-boxes without your knowledge, you have to pay for the missing Eco-boxes. It's best to have them in a safe and secure location, preferably your garage. We will count the Eco-boxes one time on your property and then one time before we load them onto the truck. If you're missing any Eco-boxes, we will give you the time it takes for use to load your order back on the truck to return the missing Eco-boxes. If you have lost one, the driver will have you fill out our missing Eco-box report and sign it. We will charge your credit card the next business day or we will accept a check on the spot before the driver leaves. If at a later date, you do locate the missing Eco-box, we will pickup back up and will credit your account, minus our pickup fee.

If I forgot to be at my place for the pickup

We understand when timing does not work out right after a move. You've had a lot going on and we understand. If we have a cell phone text

message or voice mail permission to retrieve the Eco-boxes, we will get them from your place. We will also count them immediately and the eco-agent will call you with a total count. if the count is accurate, then we're good to go. If you're missing any Eco-boxes, we will charge your credit card on file for the missing Eco-boxes. If you find them at a later date, we will credit back the cost minus the pickup fees.

If we cannot get the Eco-boxes, we will reschedule and will bill you a re-pickup fee that can range between based on location. It really works best if you have all of the Eco-boxes in a safe place ready on your scheduled pickup day.

I ran out of room in the new place, can I leave the Eco-boxes outside after

I have unpacked?

We recommend that you keep them inside of your garage or inside to prevent any outside elements like rain, dirt, dust, over spray from paint,

construction debris or even theft from occurring to the Eco-boxes. If they are left outside and they require a deep cleaning due to being left outside, we will charge you a R30.00 deep cleaning fee per Eco-box. We take great pride in our product and want to make sure that each Eco-box is in tip top shape all of the time.

How are we helping the environment by using RENTABOX?
Each Eco-box moving box will be re-used hundreds of times before being fully recycled. They are made of easy to recycle High Density Poly Ethylene (HDPE plastic), that is strong sturdy and all around the best choice for moving boxes. Cardboard moving boxes are used on average less than two times before being recycled or disposed of. Environmental regulatory agencies state that re-use is much better than recycling because recycling takes a lot of energy. Therefore using Eco-boxes greatly reduce your environmental footprint.

How can you help RENTABOX?

Who is RENTABOX?

Rentabox is a South African company founded in 2008 by a couple of regular “movers” who were tired of the hassles, costs, and waste associated with traditional cardboard box-based moves. Due to the pains experienced by the company founders during their own personal moves over the years, Rent-a-Box’s mission is simple - to make moving an easier and better experience for all through the rental of industrial-strength plastic moving supplies coupled with a convenient delivery and pick-up service.
 
Rent-a-Box is based out of Sandton. We currently only serve the Gauteng area. Expansion plans are underway with offerings in Durban and Cape Town due to open in late 2012.
